As a part of the AIA Travel Scholarship, I am going to Australia and Canada to study their environmentally-friendly seawalls. I am travelling to Sydney, Brisbane, Cairns, and Melbourne as well as Vancouver in an effort to see what has been done and how it can be applied to the Seattle waterfront.
There, I will be visiting with several influential people including town architects, biological research scientists, and urban planners. I will be uploading video and pictures of my interviews and travels to document my experience and what I learned.
I leave for Australia on November 10th to be there for 3 weeks – keep updated as I post more about my travels!
